GAH! The Holy Duo of Electro is back for another round this Spring with an album titled "Head First". I'm going to have to take a moment and put this on my list of things to purchase and geek out to when released. Obviously, if you have been awake and reading blogs, Grum is "all-the-rage". Yes, I am a grown man. And yes, I sound like a 15 yr. old school girl. Do I care...what do you think? Maybe I expected too much from Goldfrapp's comeback single. Just maybe...However, this one is a grower. Grum helps that growth spread all over your brain and make you wish you had lasers shooting from your hands. If you want to bash Goldfrapp, please start hating yourself even more right now. Believe me, I tried and ended up buying the new single. Anyone who's debut album is fantastic as "Felt Mountain" is allowed to release a blank disc as their next single. So that being said, please flashback to 80s neon lights with Grum, Alison Goldfrapp and me and ride this "Rocket".

Wow, Gaga has had a big year. Who knew things would blow up to the point of already needing a break from her image, in just a matter of a year? Too bad I can't get enough and I had to go to iTunes and buy these diamonds in the major-corporate rough. On top of that, little did we know she could be remixed so well? Here we have two fantastic remixes of an over-played Top 40 hit that will actually have you not reaching for the "skip" button. Hercules & The Love Affair can do no wrong. Even though the vocals sound slightly out of place, I am a huge fan of their ever-so-clever simplicistic style. Grum, on the other hand, goes straight for the gut. He turns "Bad Romance" into an 80s night club anthem. This one is sure to turn your emo-emotions into Converse skid-marks on the dancefloor.

So, I am on my way out into the real world. However, I just wanted to drop this day-brightener on you. Caribou is coming back in April with a new album and this mp3 is "freegal" (ill-freegal being the opposite) courteous of Mr. Daniel Victor Snaith himself. The new grip will be titled "Swim" and from the sounds of it, it will be just as playful as previous albums. I can't hate on the lack of a game-change, because honestly, he could sing about genocide and his melodies still make me think of fuzzy puppies.

I've been procrastinating on blogging about Breakbot for some time now, and there is just too many great remixes out there to postpone any longer. Breakbot has made a habit of remixing Pacific! which I LOVE. Recently he's remixed AIR and many others as well. But imo the remixes of Pacific! is where he shines. The remix of "Runaway to Elsewhere" is what got me hooked, and then I came across the remix of "Hold Me", which is total class. His presence hasn't been a secret, as he was quickly gobbled up by Ed Banger and put upon his proper pedestal. How cool is it that Banger is diversifying their portfolio and expanding into the 80's electropop & funk realm which Breakbot dominates.

The once great Salt-N-Pepa once said, "Opinions are like assholes and everybody's got one." So here's mine. When the Gorillaz's demo'ed 3 trax from their upcoming album last year, I was buzzing so hard, I swear my iPod hated me. The songs sounded so raw and fitting after a great, yet very polished second album, "Demon Days". Now that I've heard the final mix of the new track, "Stylo", with Mos Def and Bobby Womack - I'm not-so-much impressed. However, I'm still looking forward to the final project. Frankly, I think this simple and repetitive remix, by Tenkah upgrades the original, even if it's just background music worthy. However, I'm sure in 2 months when the album drops, I'll be geeking out to the album and singing it's praises. Anyways, let us know how you feel...

So, if you couldn't guess by the album art alone; There is a new blogger in Disco Hands-ville and he goes by the name Pretty/Ugly. However, all that is irrelevant due to that fact that he makes nothing in comparison to this slammin' track. It's a shame we haven't posted this sooner. If you don't own a pair of rollerskates, get some NOW! This jammy ham jam will have you all up in a 1982 daydream. Coco Solid lends some nonsense rap-style vocals to this thumping bassline, but honestly, she could be talking about last night's liquid taco bubbleguts (and I'm sure at one point, she does) and you'd still want to jam out in slow motion sparkles to this song. Granted this is the Yam Who? rework, but IMO, it bumps better than the original. SO, if you don't know, now you know. More great posts to come.

Like Brett Favre, I'm coming out of retirement. The reason might very well be Chilean up and comer Barretso. This guys is consistently releasing dope tracks and only gets better. There is a reason he was signed so quickly, and if you haven't heard what he's offering, you better get to it. A few of his tracks have caught on like wildfire in the blogosphere, but I feel like it is only necessary that I lend a hand to spread the word.

It's been a while since I've blogged last, but I'm back for good. DH is expanding right now and we've brought in a new blogger to offer his different but equally excellent tastes for everyone. There are lots of plans being made right now, so look forward to a much more active DH.

Anyways, glad to be back sharing what I love, and Barretso is my newest obsession. As well, the remix from Redial of "We Won't Stop" is legitimately boss.

80's sounds have been nothing new as of late, the usual cast from Valerie Collective, On The Fruit Records, and other inspired artists have continually put out the tracks that we know and love. I sometimes think of them as quasi-80's songs, resembling that era, but still derivative, still new, still exciting.. but selective of a nitch 80's music scene.

Lately though, I've been noticing some artist putting out tracks not so synth based, not so electronic, not so upbeat.. maybe even a bit more 80's? Let's remember that the 80's tracks were not always futuristic synth crazy tracks. One of our favorite electronic artists, Lifelike, has transformed Relation's new track "Your Tiny Mind" to fit neatly into this style. It's still has that quintessential 80's feel, but not like you may be expecting. It's completely refreshing and intriguing, paying homage to the other part of 80's music which may often be linked with the "sad parts" of the iconic 80's movies you remember. Either way, totally enjoyable. :)

Bacardi has been picking up lately on what the cool kids (you and me) have been listening to these days, so they've worked with some of our favorite musicians to put out some really great new tracks, Drop The Lime being one of them. I've been obsessively enjoying a few tracks recently, to get my mind off the increasingly monotonous aspects of life lately, first up is a really great remix from RAC of Reni Lane's track 'Place For Us'. This track reminds me of the awesome Aeroplane remix of the track 'Paris' by Friendly Fires featuring Au Revoir Simone... and I don't care if they're similar or not, just sayin.

Another track I've been going insane over is the Acid Girls track 'Wake Up' featuring Frankmusik. What a pleasant surprise, because I could never get into Frankmusik before, and now I can sorta see what his appeal is. This track has a hook that is so addictive it's straight up ridic.

And furthermore, it'd be a total shame not to mention Chromeo's new single 'Night By Night' What can I say? There's nothin new here, nothing Chromeo hasn't done before, nothing groundbreaking. Awesome! That's what makes this track so damn good. Chromeo have never failed to impress me lately with anything they touch. As bad as their videos are, and unappealing they may look, they can make some catchy ass tunes while keeping the throwback tunes legit.

Wow.. what a hiatus. I completely walked out on this whole blogging thing, but for good reasons. I'm bizack, but I'm going to keep it simple from here on. I'm really busy lately doing some shit for educational purposes, but I can't give up on this blog. If I have the time to do some features I'll do them, but I'm going to plan on throwing music up more often, but with less writing. So if you're here for the music, great! [Owl Vision]

The Swedish "Electro Beast of the East", otherwise known as Owl Vision has sent us some great tracks to share with everyone. Fresh off the presses is the new release, "Darkness EP". "Darkness" is the first single off his upcoming album, and the title doesn't mislead a bit as he keeps it dark, deep and gritty, not overwhelming us with bass like other musician tend to do.

As much as I like the title track, the Vektorkat remix is my favorite of the bunch. Vektorkat keeps the grittiness of the original and then is all like "hey what's this over here? oh, just some more grit". Despite the gritty overdose, the track is very danceable, most likely taking lessons from an act like MSTRKRFT on how to keep it raw, yet dance. Although this track is my favorite off the EP, lets not forget that all great works of art start with a great canvas.

Owl Vision - Darkness (Vektorkat Remix)

If you like what you hear, you'll love even more that the EP is available for FREE, thanks to Owl Vision's heart of gold. [Samuel + The Knocks]

If you remember... we mentioned before that The Knocks were busy in the studio producing the upcoming debut for fellow label mate, Samuel. Well to give you a bit of a tease while we wait for that, we have the fresh new track from this relatively unknown up and comer. Samuel covers Ellie Goulding's track 'Starry Eyed' and it doesn't disappoint. Oh yes, it's produced by The Knocks, so you know its of good stock.

This isn't a full fledged dance track or epic synth jam like we usually post up in here, but it's got that electro slow jam vibe pulled off perfectly. I'm not as in love with Goulding as alot of other blogs, but her vocals seem to work smoothly with Samuel's chill style.

Not quite ready to whip out when the party is taking off, but throw this on towards the end of the night for that starry eyed feel, as it's sure to help you wind down and enjoy the night.

Ricco Vitali, AKA Cavaliers of Fun is an electronic producer from the UK, although his Space Unicorn emblazoned Myspace has him listed as living in space. Either way, he's doing some really cool and fun music right now, and you need to take a listen.

His track "Secret Galaxies" has the laid back pop feel of a Pacific! track, but the melodramatic seriousness of a Kate Bush ballad. Hey.. this dude really loves his secret galaxies!!

DIGIRAATII are back again with some new dancefloor goodness. The pace at which they put out new material is mind numbing. Instead of hitting up other electronic artists to remix, this time they try their hand at Canadian R&B musician Drake with his new single "Best I Ever Had." All the R&B of the original has been drained out while DIGIRAATII put the dance into its place. As for Drake, well, this is the best remix he's ever had... count it.

Miami Horror is "Benjamin", a dude from Melbourne Australia who loves to make some disco tunes in the same vein as VEGA. Sometimes I get to thinking, are they one in the same? Is he also Neon Indian? Where does Ariel Pink come into play? I'm sure all 4 are separate entities, but sometimes I begin to listen to too much music and the lines begin to blur. I hear the chorus to the amazing "Make You Mine" and could have swore VEGA had used that melody before, or vice versa? I'm not complaining here, the more artists that begin to sound like VEGA & Miami Horror, the better, 'cause these dudes have their sound down to a science. And I'm not the only one, he's been bringing in some of the best producers out there to remix for him, including living legend Fred Falke and future Hall of Famer Treasure Fingers. So get up, grab these tunes, and slide on your dancin' shoes, you're gonna need em.

Ok when I've said before that I couldn't get enough of Little Boots, I think someone was listening.. 'cause I check my inbox and find like a zillion LB remixes for her new single 'Remedy'. Boss. To make awesome even more awesome, I have some new material from the always stellar Spaniard producers, Buffetlibre AND Sidechains. These guys are as good as they come and a both DH staples.

Their remix of Little Boots - Remedy is one of the best ones out right now. The remix is an exercise in European Club 101, at the Masters level. Right from the start Buffetlibre and Sidechains keep you dancing, while throwing Little Boots around like a rag doll, even tossing in some drum and bass to keep you on your feet. If you think you've got it all figured out, you don't. Keep you on your feet they do, making this one ripe to be a club favorite.

Since we like to keep you coming back, how about some more Buffetlibre? Deal. Let us present to you Buffetlibre's remix of Cartridge - The Woods. Who cares I guess, 'cause you don't look a gift horse in the mouf. What we have here sounds like a brilliant bastard child of MGMT meets Passion Pit meets Miike Snow. Off the hook!

Discobloodbath, Crazi Cousinz, and Rusko all try their hand at reworking the track. The Crazi Cousinz remix is spacier and more synth infused than the others. If you like Little Boots trippy with transformed vocals, this is your track.

If you like that slow... very slow, electro-hop kind of remix, you'll dig the one by Rusko. Hell, they even throw in some 8-bit beats at the end if you didn't like it already.

We have a very special treat for you, by way of Synth-Meister WORSHIP, one of Switzerland's finest exports since Swiss Miss. WORSHIP works his magic on the new track "Wishmaster" from the wonderful Parisian glam producer, Bestrack. The incredibly playful remix masters the use of the cut up distorted vocal like that of Mashepest. Throw in the intangibles that makes WORSHIP such a unique musician, while staying true to the genre, and you've got one amazing piece. WORSHIP has been an up and coming producer for a hot minute, but reworks like this put him up there with the best, leading the pack.

The reception was really great the first time around we introduced them, with their track "Can't Shake Your Love" going to #1 on Hype Machine, so we're back with more music from The Knocks. They dropped us their newest shiz, a remix of 'Wale feat. Lady Gaga - Chillin.' The Knocks said they wanted to give it a "fun summertime vibe for your cruising to the beach needs", and I think they nailed it. As ridiculous as Lady Gaga can be, her MIA impersonation/homage really adds some playfulness to the track, while The Knocks do the rest to get you hyped for fun in the sun.

It's always a pleasure to instantaneously know what you want to blog about. There are groups out there that when they send you something, you drop what you're doing and you listen. DW is one of those groups. They continue to build upon my Swedish music fetish with their seductive synths and distorted, yet beautiful vocals.

DW had previously hooked up with French producer Daroc to create one of my favorite tracks of the year "Hypnotic France." The track is truly mesmerizing, blissful, hypnotic, French (and Swedish).

...Annnd we're back. Sorry about that hiatus, no I didn't get amnesia and wander around aimlessly until someone found me, but I'm back into blogging form, and that's what really matters.

I was going to post the same day when the sad news came that Michael Jackson died, and I guess I must have been so upset I didn't get around to it, setting up my hiatus, yeah.. lets go with that.

Life is weird and ironic at times, I was planning on blogging about the group Discovery, then MJ dies out of nowhere, so I figured I'd do a tribute post for MJ. The irony is that Discovery happen to cover Michael Jackson with "I Want You Back" on their latest album. So naturally this lets me incorporate BOFF!

I really could not ignore the signs in front of me, so let me drop some Discovery on you guys.

First up, the aforementioned cover. I'm not usually a fan of covers for the fact that most artists feel the need to try and show up the original. Discovery does not do this, instead they make it an homage, making it their own rather than trying to out do the original. I like this cover, but it is not one of my favorites, I'm putting it up for obvious reason.

Continuing on, here is one of my favs "Can You Discover?". Like most of their tracks, it's laid back, electronic, has a Hot Chip feel, and is damn original.

Oh yes, who is Discovery? Discover is a new project from both Vampire Weekend's Rostam "Batman" glij and Ra Ra Riot's lead singer Wes Miles, creating something completely different from both members groups. Let me repeat, I can't stand Vampire Weekend, but I really dig this, so hats off to Mr. Glij. I've always been a fan of Ra Ra Riot, so nothing needs to be said here. I will say that I'm digging this more than I've dug anything put out by either band in the past, this one is a winner.

Putting the R&B feel into the mix is the track "So Insane" which is all over the place. The pace is pretty slow, but it gets slower, almost to the point of a droned out coming down.

One of my other favs is "Osaka Loop Line" which builds into a glitch anthem. Aside from Hot Chip vibes, I get a feeling of Postal Service up in this.

Ok one more, I don't want to put the whole damn album up, but it's so hard not to include as many of these tracks as I can. If you're not completely annoyed with auto tune by now, you'll like love or hate (auto tune, like it?) Carby (Featuring Ezra Koenig). For obvious auto tune reasons, the whole Auto Tune The News vibe jumps straight into my head. Don't let that scare you away, this just applies the beginning and it's probably just me.. really. Plus some of those songs are a little bit catchy.

And while we're unloading stuff, let's turn this into a megapost and include DIGIRAATII's fresh MJ remix of "Blood On The Dance Floor". They lead by example, letting us know that celebrating Michael's insane collection of jams might just be the best way to honor his life and legacy.

Val Venosta are a Swedish electronic band comprised of ERIK & PÄR, hailing from Halmstad, Sweden. And because I'm blessed w/ the great opportunity to run this blog, I get to find obscure gems like this hiding in my mail box. As they noted in their email, they've been played in several big podcasts and one of their songs reached the notoriety of being used as background music on Swedish Public Service Television. So take a listen to their newest single "These Days", which also includes the new track "The Abominable Computer at Castle Dragonwyck" and a "BFB Slow and Low" remix. I think you'll agree with me that these guys deserve much more than to be played in the back, and I'm guessing if they get a little more blog love from others in the blogosphere they'll get it.

"These Days" features a highly rigid and robotic vocal delivery with a heavy Swedish accent and of course some complimentary synth work delivered from an android I'm sure. This track makes me think of a track like Tiga "Shoes" instantaneously for whatever reasons. Now if only their video was as insane as the Tiga video they'd be set.

As much of a grower as "These Days" was, "The Abominable Computer at Castle Dragonwyck" is an instant pleasure with the delicate layered synths and very gentle percussion underneath. Some of the synth work on this is world class, feeling almost as if it was plucked right out an M83 album, Dead Cities, Red Seas & Lost Ghosts comes to mind . When the synth-work picks up pace, it is soon joined by a series of haunting ghost-like howls to finish it off. The sad part here is that the track is over too soon, I want to hear more of these haunting howls!!

Also check out the "BFB Slow and Low" Remix done by Gothenburg (in Sweden, look it up) techno gurus Bird Fish In Between. It really is slow and it really is low, a good way ;)

For those of you that don't know of The Knocks, let me introduce you. The Knocks are an up and coming NYC producing duo formed in 2006. Comprised of DJ B-Roc and Mr. JPatt, The Knocks have been grindin nonstop and seem intent on taking the NY music scene by storm, and keeping it.

As Cities of The Plain pointed out before me, their music is hard to put into a neat little genre. Part of it screams electro pop, while the other part screams House or Italo disco. Maybe this is part of their master plan, to not be classified into one genre and limit their talents. Their work only enforces this concept, as they've produced a myriad of diverse remixes from Passion Pit to Jay-Z.

When The Knocks aren't busy producing their own music, they are lending their creative talents to other artists under their label HeavyRoc. Currently they are bangin away at the debut album of fellow label mate Samuel, which is set to release in early 2011.

The Knocks were cool enough to pass us along two tracks to present to you. The first is their original track titled "Can't Shake Your Love". If you're looking for that hook heavy dance track with nuances of synths and perfectly seasoned back beats, this is is your dish. Flashes of French House a la Moulinex are ever present here and its bursting at the seams to be thrown out on the dance floor. If you're going to make a good first impression as an artist, THIS is what you hope for.

They also sent us their newest remix, of Marina & The Diamonds' track "Mowgli's Road." This is a bit different than what we normally post here, but the remix is really starting to grow on me. How cool is the creepy voiced chorus towards the end?? For some reason that little worm dude from David Bowie's 'Labyrinth' pops into my head. Creepin like a creepa!!

Fresh into my digital mailbox comes a sweet treat. The debut 12" "Glittering Night EP" from Finnish duo Hannulelauri! While it may be a new name to many, Hannulelauri has a solid dance music pedigree dating back to the halcyon days of Acid House's first surge of popularity in Helsinki in the late 80's, where DJ Ender (aka Hannu) was one of the first DJ's in Finland championing the sound. Ender's long musical history has led him many places including deep club collaborations with Pépé Deluxe and as co-founder of jazz-dance collective Nuspirit Helsinki. Joining up with new jack Lauri Soini, the two have forged ahead as Hannulelauri, embracing 80's style, italo disco and spaced-out rock grooves, giving it their own Finnish twist for 2009.

First up is "Glittering Night", conjuring visions of 8-bit videogame soundtracks applied to the dancefloor, or an alternative theme to the movie Robocop (which Lauri seems to have a strong affinity for), with shimmering electric synth chords washing over a Commodore 64 groove before a Peter Hook soundalike drops a lovely bassline, making New Order comparisons inevitable (a good thing!). Perfect late-night machine funk.

Next is "Sally 2000", a more introspective piece with insistent digital strings providing the foundation for a childlike toy chime melody, pulsating bass and more as layer upon layer builds to a fuzzed-out, pixelated yet beatless climax.

Finally, the late-night vibe continues as "Sally 2000" gets a version from Finland's techno/house master Jori Hulkkonen (needing no introduction nor explanation) who works the track's pleading strings into a more dancefloor-friendly mix, adding perfectly tuned drums and a nice, fat kick but keeping the synth melodies intact and the tempo slower than your normal electrohouse jam.

This release is strictly limited to 400 copies. So if you like what you hear, and I don't know how you couldn't, scrape your Pennies, Euros, Yen, Wooden Nickels, or Wampum together and grab it up via Flexx Digital. Ok they may not take Wampum, and you may be one of those "I already have it...you just posted it dude" type of dude givin' me sass, but who can resist a limited TANGABLE copy!?

PinkBoy has been a long time resident DJ at the famous Club Lux in Lisbon. He just finished up recording and producing the new single "Paradox" for the band Post Hit. And even better, he's doing us the honor of allowing us to debut his ace remix. Nuno Rosa / PinkBoy / Gun N' Rose has been someone to keep an eye on for a while now, but I think this remix being the pure class track it is, only solidifies his relevance.

Continuing the DISCOHANDS tradition of introducing new and upcoming producers, we'd like to present to you Death To The Throne, a producer from Phoenix who seems to have a little bit of an obsession with Lykke Li.

When James Nelson (AKA Death To The Throne) sent me his remix of Lykke Li's cover of Knocked Up by Kings of Leon, I knew I had to hear some more from this dude. This would not be a track that I'd normally imagine getting the ol' remix treatment, but then again I'm not a producer and I'm not a talented one at that. That's why I leave the producing to music magicians (not literally) like Death To The Throne.

Like I said, Death To The Throne seems to have a bit of an obsession with Lykke Li (not to mention other things.. rhymes with jail bait). So it's only natural to include his remix of 'Lykke Li - Little Bit'.
Death To The Throne pointed out to me the fact that Lykke Li does not seem to like drums or drummers, as apparent by her music. So naturally he felt the need to fill the gap in this remix and I'd have to agree with him that it's a great improvement. So if you're reading this Lykke Li, this dude right here only wants one thing in life, to be your touring drummer. Ok, gave it a shot.

Moving away from the healthy or not Lykke Li obsession and onto another obsession, mine. M83 has been one of my musical obsessions for a long time, so I thought it would be pretty cool to include Death To The Throne's remix of 'Teen Angst' by the French Genius Anthony Gonzalez (M83). Death To The Throne puts his drummin' skillz to work on this track giving it a more energetic pace to the already hypnotic track.

And for your listening pleasure why not throw in Death To The Throne's remix of Chromeo's Fancy Footwork. As much as I like all his tracks, this beast of a track might be more up my alley. The track has all the glitch and synths a synthmeister could want as well as the underlying splash of banger, waiting to burst out. This remix right here is off the chain! One of the best Chromeo remixes I've ever heard, so yeah.

You knew it was going to be good, but Skywriter, the first LP release from DatA exceeds expectations and blows them way the fuck out of the water. We got a taste of things to come with 'One In A Million', which was bad ass, but as with most albums the single takes the cake.. but not Skywriter. This is no diss, in fact its a damn good compliment, and shows the depth this album has. From the beginning piano of 'Verdict' you know you're in for a treat. You know it'll be epic when the organ like synths soon follow. It's a good rule of thumb that organs are good foreshadowing for a great album, it's science.

DatA - Verdict

I was mentioning to a friend that this album has a feel to it that hasn't been done since Justice's "Cross". "Skywriter" is a perfect example of how you handle hype and put together an album that delivers. DatA has shown that you don't stick to one style, you expand and make your own sound. Sprinkled between his hook heavy catchy as shit electro jams are Kavinsky-eque synth emblazoned classic.

The influences continue to rain down when you hear a track like 'So Much In Love' which has you thinking Daft Punk 'Emotion' meets Justice 'Phantom'. And then then halfway through you realize DatA is doing his own thing as usual.. using the first half only as a drawn out intro to the meat of the track the Discofunk chorus which repeats its way into the next track leaving you wanting more.

When comparing a few tracks to Justice it gets a little tricky. Some tracks are classic "Cross", but a few go in the direction of newer "Planisphere" Justice w/ the epic guitar sections blended in.

With DatA showing his maturity with mixing things up and keeping it interesting throughout the album, I still find that my favorites are his vocal laced songs such as 'Skywriter'. Oh yes, Rapture is in there as well, so glad he decided to incorporate it into the album since it's one of my favorite songs in the electro realm.

Ok back into my blogging form after a little layover in Lazyville (population: 1). Let me introduce MMMatthias, an electro German producer who labels his music as both "easy listening" and "hardcore". This may have you scratching your head for a bit, but only until you listen to his music and get what he means. In the words of a wise fellow DH blogger, Pretty/Ugly, "He manages to bring electro to a calming point where if you are soothed by glitches, stop & pauses - this fits perfectly into your routine of staring out of public transit windows". Well said.

MMMatthias sent us over his newest remix and I've been really enjoying it after letting it sink in my brain a bit. It's his take on Moderat's 'Les Grandes Marches', and he owns it in every sense of owning something.

I originally posted a nice DIGIRAATII remix of Amanda Blank's "Get It Now".. which I will repost now. Better late than never, but fresh for your ears is DIGIRAATII back with another banger. This time they assault the hell out of Amanda Blank 's "Get It Now", which is always welcome. Their Yeah Yeah Yeahs ' "Heads Will Roll" remix has been getting some really great response lately and is moving its way up the Hype Machine charts oh so quickly.

Last week when I did a little writeup for PILLAGE I told you to check out the compilation dubbed "Be Juicy" from On The Fruit Records. Well if you ignored my advice you missed out on some amazing artists and songs. But to further prove my point and try to entice you once again, I present Double Dragon, a duo coming straight outta south France.

Double Dragon are no newbs to the game, although under represented in the blogosphere, they've done remixes for the likes of NOTe FOUND, Ghost In The Water, Enfant Terrible, Culture Prophet, Popular Damage, and We Are Terrorists.

Like any good nu-wave retro act should, these boys love their rock n roll and their movies. Although they didn't specify which movies, I'd make the assumption they love their 80's horror flicks with their mix of Sylvester Stallone as well.

Double Dragon were nice to send us a few of their tracks, and they are some goodins. The first is "Perdu", which is featured on their Perdu EP. It's a rockin electro track much less of a disco track than PILLAGE, but more in the creepy mood of electro king DANGER. They intertwine some French spoken word throughout the track, and I have no clue what they are saying.. but I'd like to imagine its some dialogue set to a horror flick with an insane serial killer stalking his prey. It works for me.

And if the last track wasn't spooky enough, they up the anty with "Misery" which starts off with some haunting synths which reminds me of Friday the 13th. Don't expect to hear this one at your local discoteca, because I don't think too many people are going to find a way to dance to this one quit yet. Instead this one is a brilliant piece you need to turn the lights off and chill with, by yourself, and appreciate what it means to produce unique music which takes you places beyond the dance floor.

Double Dragon - Misery

Their track "To Be A Hero!" steps away from the horror flick soundtracks and sets a lighter happier more inspiring mood. "You too can be a hero!" is the message I am getting from them. Their Myspace page features a picture of an NFL player chuggin ahead towards the endzone alongside this song, and the music fits it perfectly. It sounds as if they've sampled some inspiring NFL theme song and put their own nu wave rockin' twist on it. Since these guys sound to be movie buffs, I think this song would be more fitting alongside The Karate Kid and not Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Definitely an upgrade from Jose Esposito's "You're The Best".

Little Boots has done a nice little mini mix of exclusive tracks appearing on her upcoming album, and a few other non album gemies including her own genius rendition of The Virgins' "Rich Girls". Going with the "Rich Boys" twist.. naturally.

DiscoTexan VEGA is back in the blogosphere after the gratis release of his fresh Disco House song "No Reasons". This time with a nice montage to accompany the brilliant track. This isn't the first time VEGA has dipped into the alt sport movie genre for inspiration, he's done so before with the 80's "classic" 'RAD' for the beast of a track "All Too Vivid". This dude has some really great things going for him, not only are the synth blessed songs damn good all by their lonesome, but he has a voice that is the perfect compliment. Alot of electro groups out there have one or the other, but rarely posses both in perfect harmony, such as the magnificent Tesla Boy.

I'm not usually the type of guy to pay attention to any local acts, as I'm usually glued to what's going on half way around the world when it comes to music. But I was pleasantly surprised to stumble across DIGIRAATII, a DJ trio which happens to be from Cleveland (OH, not UK). I met two thirds of the group at a MSTRKRFT show last year, and in a twist of fate, here I am blogging about them, cool. Speaking of... the influence MSTRKRFT has had on their music is upfront and in your face, just like the bass in their music.

The first track up is their remix of Yeah Yeah Yeahs' "Heads Will Roll" I know there have been a ton of YYY remixes out there since their album dropped, but this one sticks out as one of the better ones I've heard. The vocal skipping into the banger beats works oh so well. Expect this one to get passed around a bit.

Next up is their original track "Digital Nghtmre" which is a tad less in your face as their remix. But still, they've made it known they are going for that banger feel, when the heavy bass creeps back in.

Lastly, this trio try their hands at Hard Fi's "Hard To Beat". You can really tell these guys work their music for the clubs. This track is ripe to be assaulting your eardrums on the dance floor.

Ok I'm pretty stoked about this writeup, this dude's one of the top upcoming producers right now in my opinion and he's been gracious enough to send us a lot of his tracks. Oh yes, some of these tracks are making their premier exclusively right here and now. word.

Making his DiscoHands debut and essentially his first blogosphere feature, let me introduce Mashepest, an upcoming producer from the UK. You might recognize him from what I consider last year's remix of the year when he remixed Lemonade's track "Real Slime". I'm a fan of Lemonade, but the sick transformation he did was uncanny, turning the tame original into his own psych-disco freak out, single-handedly putting them on the map.

Mashepest has been been doing music for a while now, and although classically trained, he says he was a big listener of 90's chart music which has been a big influence on his current music. Mashepest has also been producing grime music for years under his moniker Grime Reaper. And although he produces two separate brands of music, you can still hear faint hints of grime in both.

The thing I really dig about the music Mashepest is making, is that it's his own style. The music is extremely eclectic, and he's not out there mimicking the rest of the scene like so many others. Instead he's making his own scene and doing what he wants, not trying to share someone elses spotlight.

Keepin it rollin' here's a debut of the track "So Young" which has Mashepest's quick but chilled beats layered between some oh so lovely synths. The heavy synth action in this one at first put me to thinking Valerie Collective, but that quickly faded as the track progressed. Mashepest stays true to his own unique style.

Where "So Young" hints at being chill but still fast enough to keep your dancin shoes on, "Million" dives in head first. Although the track is chill as a penguin, there is much more going on here to keep you interested. Sounds like: µ-Ziq meets The KLF.

"Technical Hitch" is another previously unreleased track which builds upon Mashepest's ability to use transformed vocal loops and package them with catchy uptempo bursts to create an intriguing track.

Mashepest continues to work his magic with his "O'Ryan Concept Remix", keepin it droned out with some off tempo beats. Again, he finds a way to remix something that others might not have the skills or imagination to. Sounds like : Bjork meets High Places.

Meet DiscoHand's newest friend, Alexandre Doré AKA Ahllex, a 19 year old electro musician from Quebec, Canada. Ahllex has been putting out music already for over 7 years, starting when he was only 12 years old. He is also a man of many names and projects, having put out music on the side for his projects Kid 90, Le Discoboy, A Man Called Ahllex, Doremi, and Do It At Home, his most recent Electro Trash collaboration with Marc Rémillard (also of Doremi).

He's done remixes for Thieves Like Us, Fourplay, Ravage! Ravage!, Traumasick, Marc Rémillard, and Pop Inc. only to name a few. Ahllex's remix of "Looking for the KLF" was chosen as the runner up for Pop Inc's remix contest. As well, his remix for Marc Rémillard's "Feeling Fresh" will be on the illustrious So French Records with a special remix from none other than Xinobi, so stay tuned for that. Check this shit out!

datA is due to release his new single "One In A Million" on April 28th featuring remixes from Tomboy and Drixxxé. The track features Sebastien Grainger of the now deceased Death From Above 1979. datA never ceases to amaze me as he's mastered the electro pop genre. The club remix adds a good amount of grit, staying true to the French Banger scene.

datA and Grainger have worked together before, remember "Rapture"? I think this cements it that datA needs to be a duo, not relying on Grainger's voice for limited guest appearances. As much success as he enjoyed with "Rapture", I'm hoping there is even more with "One In A Million" because the track is fuckin' ace.

One half of The Outrunners AKA Stephen Falken of Valerie Collective just put out a new piece titled "The Deal." Falken takes us on a masterful synth fueled epic in the same way WORSHIP has done before. The piece is much more mellow and tame than Falken's "Shadow of the Wind" which is in more typical Valerie fashion.

I'm really glad someone is embracing this type of sound and giving us something to counterbalance the upbeat chorus heavy disco pop which I've recently started to overload on. I'm not complaining by any means, but let's not forget, variety is the spice life. :)

I know another blog beat me to the punch on "debuting" Flashmen. But hey, I think I can claim that I spotted Flashmen first. I blame this on my inability to party and post simultaneously (I'm learning). Bradley D! of Flashmen sent me over these two tracks and a bit more info about the band so I could get acquainted with them. Well I've really dug it and think you should give them a listen. So here it is.

Born out of a love for disco string hits and 80’s teen movie soundtracks, Flashmen bring a futuristic blend of vintage synthesizer lust and feel good vibes. The group began as a dream to move to the city and take back Armed with a knack for catchy melodies, the duo of Bradley D (DJ from New York’s Famous Friends) and Daniel E (singer/songwriter) tie together the Brooklyn and Chicago music scenes.

Their music takes you back to the days when you were young and idolized Don Johnson and Tom Selleck as they drove around town making witty quips before taking a beautiful woman home. Bradley describes their sound as “blending the soft romantic 80’s ballads of our childhoods with a little bit of funk.”

The first track to be released is Flashmen Theme which features Bradley D on vocals. The song is a great introduction to Flashmen, and slowly brings you into a world of leisure suits, bad hair, space ships, spies, and martinis. “Can you feel it in the air?” Johnny Quest would be proud.

The B-side to this quickie is Little Wildkat, a ballad with a driving arpeggiated bassline that keeps the groove throughout. Disco string hits and lasers abound and Daniel E’s voice goes a bit raspy to bring out his Indiana farmboy roots.

Give it a listen, dance a bit, shed a nostalgic tear, and embrace Flashmen!

Both tracks are really great, but I have become really intrigued with Flashmen Theme, it's golden.

[little boots + the golden filter]

Ok I was going to go to sleep (sooo tired), but when you come across two in house favorites The Golden Filter AND Little Boots making music together, sleep can wait. Aleks over at discodust was generous to share this currently hard to come by remix, which is in glorious 320 might I add. The Golden Filter slow down the track to their own surreal and spacey style, but still keep it building up with the danceable chorus. Perfect for when the night is dying down and you want to go to sleep, and dream of Little Boots with The Golden Filter. ;)

I don't know if I can compare it to Fred Falke's remix of the same song because it is one of my favorite remixes this year, but this will definitely be playing non stop tomorrow. And while I'm at it and can't seem to stay away from Valerie Collective, check out the Russ Chimes Remix of The Golden Filter's Solid Gold, it's golden (I can't help myself).

There are 3 things that are a given in life, death, paying taxes, and France pumping out some of the best electronic music at a mind numbing pace. It seems like every day there is a new French genius producer dropping a sick track. Segue complete, France's Pégase gives us two new spacey tracks. As if Valerie Collective wasn't already hogging all the good acts, add Pégase to their lopsided roster. "Wherever You Are" has been compared to MGMT a bit, yes, yes I sorta hear it (No hatin, it's a compliment). "I Try To Be You" is my personal favorite of the two, much catchier and easier to dance all shoegaze like.

The Golden Child lends his talents to remixing The Juan MacLean's "One Day" and it's fuckin' ace as usual from the Institubes genius. Surkin turns the track into a full fledged electro house love fest. Boy's got the Midas Touch, 'cause this shit is gold.

The guys over at Buffetlibre are running a remix competition for Passion Pit - Sleepyhead (video below, dude) as part of the Proyecto Batidora. So head over and download your song stems and give it a shot. One of the better remixes so far comes from an Oklahoma City group Kids At The Bar.

Kids At The Bar are an electro project from OKC's dj/producer Rad and studio producer/engineer Matt Buckley. They are a new dj pair making some nice remixes and doing their thing on the scene. They're currently working on many new remixes and finishing up their EP, so keep checking back for more from them. The Bloody Beetroots team up with Steve Aoki to bring the blogosphere and music world a damn good tune. I'm not going to pretend to be too cool and go on a long ass rant about how much cooler I am than this video and everything in it, unlike a certain other blog. WARP is a bangin track, and I'd love to see half of the wannabe bangers out there replicate it. Pop open the wine coolers, because DiscoHands is officially open. I don't want to waste any time explaining who or what we are, I think that will come naturally as we go along. It's going to be fun, and we're going to try and keep everyone up to date with what's going on in the disco/electro/synth/house/etc scene. I've been inspired by some truly amazing blogs out there (see: buddy system) and feel that we can contribute to the community.

Also, congrats to Discobelle on being selected by Scion AV to release their own compilation. I'm sure it's going to be great. They even left us with the opening track.
